Windsor Elms are seeking a grounds worker for a full time summer term position.
The position is located in the newly renovated home located in Falmouth, NS (just 40 minutes from Halifax).
We require weekend work during May, approximately 32 hours per week in June, July and Aug and then weekend work in September, October and November.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of grounds care from initial clean up and planting to the clean up and fertilizing to maintain an attractive orderly and healthy environment.
  • Participates as needed in the gardening needs of our residents.
  • Performs planting of annuals, weeding, cultivating, grass mowing and trimming using various pieces of motorized and hand equipment.
  • Works in a safe manner following the operating instructions of all equipment.
  • Becomes knowledgable of all plant species and their care requirements.
  • Assists with the placement and storage of outdoor furniture

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience of landscaping operations.
  • Physically capable of performing assigned duties.
  • Formal training in landscaping (Community College) is a definite asset.
  • As our groundskeeper you will be interacting with staff, residents and visitors on a continual basis. Strong interpersonal skills are a must for this role.

Maritime Landscape Services Ltd. is looking for a part-time driver with Class 3 License and Air Brakes required for operation of Mack-Truck with Tree Spade for large tree transplanting projects. Projects involve out-of-town travel in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and sometimes overnight stays required. Minimum starting rate $15.00 per hour and is negotiable depending upon truck operator's willingness to operate the Spade and be an active part of the transplanting team. Two-way travel time and road expenses for meals and accommodations are covered.

Major period of work is April-May-June and September, October and November. Some work through the summer depending upon transplanting weather conditions.
